Prime Video Announces Indian Adaptation of ‘The Traitors’; Karan Johar will host

Prime Video has announced the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed show Trust and Deception, the traitor. In association with All3Media International for the local adaptation of IDTV’s BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning global format produced by BBC Studios India Productions, Prime Video India will showcase the unscripted original reality show.

Its Indian adaptation the traitor Will premiere on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles. The series challenges its players’ wits, intellect and strategic skills as they compete for big cash jackpots. A total of 20 players appear in the royal palace, hoping to win accumulated cash prizes collected through various physical and mental missions undertaken by them.

The players will be identified as ‘innocent’, but unbeknownst to them, some of them will be ‘traitors’, carefully and secretly chosen by the host at the start of the show. In a game of sinister twists and turns, cold-hearted deception, and constant manipulation, the traitors must eliminate the innocent… unless the innocent are able to identify them before it’s too late!

Since launching in the Netherlands on RTL 4 in 2021, the format has proven its international appeal with more than 25 adaptations and numerous returning seasons. Hit international adaptations of the format include NBC Universal’s Emmy-winning US version for streaming service Peacock and BBC One’s BAFTA-winning version in the UK, which drew 8 million viewers for its Season 2 finale. The US versions will return for a third season, and the UK version has been commissioned for a fourth season and a celebrity edition.
