Interpersonal conflict seems to be a trope that captures the novelty of Harish Kalyan. One of the most critically acclaimed films of the last year, ParkingA fellow tenant, played by the ever-reliable MS Bhaskar, confronts his character. This year the innings is starting with Harish Lubar Pandu — a film centered around cricket, featuring his character’s duel against Atakathi Dinesh. Harish said there is more Lubar Pandu Just without the fuss. “The main reason I took up the film was because it is set against a sports backdrop and I haven’t played many village-based characters. The fact that the two are coming together in one script excites me. More than a playoff between two players, there’s more emotional conflict between all the main characters.”
Set in Trichy, Harish says he didn’t have to work hard to get the slang right. “There were only a few words, viz ‘Ingutu, Angutu’ That needs to be included. Likewise, they use ‘pulla’ When addressing a young lady. I have always played cricket but I am a batsman/wicketkeeper, so I had to work on the bowling action as a fast bowler,” added the actor.

Interestingly, earlier this year, we were Blue Star Which was also a film about friendship between two enemies in the backdrop of cricket but Harish feels his film is different. “It’s more of a family sports drama. Family passion, Women’s development, Success are some of the aspects that give a different perspective Lubar Pandu focused,” he says. “Anbu (the character he plays in the film) values talent above all else. The film also focuses on rubber ball tournaments that are unique to the urban environment with commentary. For example, when a star player enters the field, one of their Will be welcomed with real songs. Why big players, like Dinesh character Anna Drama, indulgence in sports and how the game itself creates problems for both of our characters are key elements of the film.”
Bold over
Ask Harish Kalyan for his favorite sports film and without skipping a beat, the actor names a film that coincidentally stars him in a cameo. “As far as sports films are concerned, Jersey It has to be my favorite because it’s not a story about a man chasing his dream but about a man who fails but keeps trying.”
Harish believes that “a film should both receive critical acclaim and also do well commercially”. Compared to his last film, parking, with Lubar PanduHe said, “Due to flood, the theater is running Parking Somewhat impressed but it earned a good name for itself and did well commercially in theaters besides doing great in strings. Lubar Pandu There are more heroic moments, funny elements and family feel. It is full of emotion and has plenty of dramatic moments to ensure that it will be a wholesome entertainer.”
Earlier, actors became heroes with an action film within just a year or two of their debut, but the current crop of actors doesn’t seem to have a predetermined roadmap to stardom and Harish is well aware of the reasons. “The current generation of viewers is exposed to a lot more content. We have formats like OTT as well as web series and even YouTube, so there is no dearth of content. The act of choosing a theatrical film for people. Only if the film does well does its actor get star value. Past films, it is audience acceptance that makes an actor a star or action hero. I want to do an action film,” says Harish whose next release, DieselApparently such an effort.

“Diesel It’s probably the biggest film I’ve done in my career in terms of grandeur, the location it was shot in, the action and of course the budget. It is mounted on a large scale. On the other hand, my picture with director Vignarjan dark Fame) is a love story; It’s a complete romance for me Ispade Rajabhum Idhaya Raniyum”
Turning back to the subject of stardom, Harish adds, “The transformation into a star can happen in one film for an actor and for others it may take longer. I’ve been in the mindset of taking things slowly and that’s changing now. I am also getting the script accordingly, and I am trying to get the best out of it. The idea is to mix all genres and not just stick to action. The aim is to entertain the audience and choose scripts that will take us to the graphs.”
