Shah Rukh Khan Ribs Karan Johar About Hosting Chat Show: When Are You Going To Film?


Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has teased his friend and filmmaker Karan Johar for hosting more chat shows and directing less films.

Shah Rukh and Karan, who are all set to host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024, have worked together in several hit movies like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, “Kavi Khushi Kavi Gham…”, “My Name” Khan”, and “Kavi Albida Na Kehna”.

At the IIFA Awards press conference on Tuesday evening, Shah Rukh pulled Karan’s leg for being less active on the directorial front.

“He hosts chat shows, film shows. Picturein Bhi Toh Bana Mere Bhai (When are you going to make a film, my brother?),” said the superstar, eliciting a laugh from the filmmaker.

Karan, whose last directorial venture was 2023’s “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani”, admitted Shah Rukh was right.

“It sounds so wrong on so many levels for a filmmaker. That I should be making movies. (But) that’s exactly what I should be doing,” said the filmmaker, who also hosts the popular celebrity chat show “Koffee with Karan”. “

The IIFA Awards, a three-day awards gala, returns to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island for the third year in a row and will be held from September 27 to 29.

Actor Vicky Kaushal will join Shah Rukh and Karan as hosts on stage.

It will also feature veteran actors Rekha and stars like Shahid Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Kriti Shannon.

“I am so blessed to be hosting this show with Vicky and Karan and all the amazing talent. Some of us are here this evening. And of course, there are going to be great performances to follow. There will be Shahid, Vicky, Janhvi, Kriti and of course, The most amazing star of them all, Rekha Ji,” said Shah Rukh.

The “Paathan” star, who is returning to the IIFA stage as a host after almost a decade, said he wanted to present all versions of the awards show but the dates did not match.

“They called me to host (IFA) once, they’re calling me again after 10 years,” he said, adding that it’s important to “clarify” these days when it’s a joke.

Telugu star Rana Daggubati, who will host the IIFA festival along with Teja Sajja, was also present at the press conference on Tuesday.

Shah Rukh says this year’s edition of IFA is “more Indian” than ever before.

“IIFA has always been about taking Indian cinema, now including Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu and Hindi cinema (to the world)…
