Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Review
Spectacular and only sporadically pleasing, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga To be sure, not without its moments. But the moments that make the film roar always come and go without convincing whether they’re staged or how they’re placed within and related to the ‘flow’ of the story.
In George Miller’s four films spanning 45 years, the world-building of the film plays second fiddle to the universe that doesn’t fully encompass the mythology.

Working with his co-screenwriter Nico Latouris, Miller pulls no punches in handing over Furiosa What She Deserves – A story that spans from the time she is an innocent and brave village girl to the moment in her life when she channels her anger and thirst for revenge and is in a position to give the warring men around her a run for their money.
Anya Taylor-Joy is so wonderfully energetic but controlled as the titular heroine that even when images of Charlize Theron in Fury Road flash across our minds, she comes across as someone who might be slacking off with a daunting workload to follow. Actually, he doesn’t follow. He makes his own way.
Chris Hemsworth portrays the warlord Dementus, a bearded and lanky leader of a marauding band of bikers who shows a softer side through the teddy bear he carries to commemorate his lost daughter with traditional panache.
Dementus engages in a running battle with Immortan Joe (Lachie Hulme, replacing the late Hugh Kiss-Byrne), the leader of the Citadel, the powerful settlement of warriors who followed Furiosa on Fury Road. In addition to Gastown, Wasteland’s Second Fortress and the Bullet Farm, Third Fortress, Dementus, and the world that Immortan Joe lives in are perfect examples of places that are paying for the sins of humans past and present, fighting for water and fuel as they are scarce resources still available. Fights for control.
It is the lack of essentials in the wasteland that creates it FuriosaIts village, the green space of many mothers, an oasis of abundance, a sought-after place mapped only by the abducted girl who has grown into a full-fledged warrior.
Furiosa must fight to keep the secret until he is ready to avenge the gruesome murder of his knife-wielding mother to do everything in his power to save her.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Emotional power is low as the hero’s struggle to find his way back home forces him to wander a lot. When she and Dementus face off and the girl demands her childhood and her mother back, the film loses its ability to surprise us.
Spectators look forward to the encounter. It comes very late in the narrative arc. Furiosa and Dementus exchange words to round out the story, but there are several moments in the film when spoken lines are drowned out by music or sound effects.
Another disappointment of the film is the short shrift given to Tom Burke. The actor plays Praetorian Jack, who forms a partnership with Furiosa but leaves as suddenly as it appears, leaving no real trace of a romance developing between the two characters.
Like the bikes, war rigs, and other moving contraptions that the film uses, many of its fighters are flashes that are only fleeting. While some of them create their own misguided little pockets of impression, they aren’t connected to each other in an entirely meaningful way.
Its hardcore fans mad max There’s a lot to like here, but if you’re a filmgoer who expects more from George Miller, you’ll be shortchanged. This Mad Max story is crazy enough but not driven by manic energy Fury Road.
