51st Telluride Film Festival Line Up: Dramas ‘Conclave’, ‘All We Imagine As Light’, ‘Maras’


The lineup for the 51st Telluride Film Festival from August 30 to September 4 in Colorado, USA has been announced. Indian director Payal Kapadier All we imagine as lightThe film, which won the Cannes Grand Prix in May, will thrill audiences in the mountain town of Telluride ahead of its November 15 US theatrical premiere. The film narrates the story of two Kerala nurses living together in Mumbai. It stars Kani Kushruti and Divya Prabha.

ConclaveA religio-political thriller starring Ralph Fiennes is among the highlights of this year’s lineup. The film was directed by Edward Berger (All is quiet on the Western Front) and based on the best-selling novel by Robert Harris. It follows Cardinal Lawrence into the secretive and politically charged process of electing a new pope, played by Fiennes.

Four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan will receive the honor at the four-day festival in Colorado, USA. Ronan is one of three cinema icons honored at the fest, alongside veteran editor Thelma Schoonmaker and French director Jacques Audiard.

Known for films like Ronan Atonement, Lady Bird And little womanGerman director Nora Fingscheid’s new film features, outrun. In the play, Ronan’s character, Rona, a young woman recently released from rehab for alcoholism, returns from London to the Orkney Islands in Scotland, where she grew up.

“This short weekend of cinematic bliss reminds us every year that movies really are magic,” Telluride festival director Julie Huntsinger said in a statement. “The process of putting together our line-up is both arduous and rewarding, and it never fails to bring the greatest sense of satisfaction when it’s done. Our expectations match those of the audience.”
